Theodor Leschetizky

by Paul Ford, grandson of Leonida Krajewska Fudakowska

Theodor Leschetizky was born in Poland in 1830. Both of his parents were accomplished musicians. As a schoolboy, Theodor was taken to Vienna to study piano with Carl Czerny, a student of Beethoven, and a popular and successful piano pedagogue.

Leschetizky became a virtuoso pianist and one of the most influential teachers in Europe. He mentored Ignacy Paderewski among many others.

Leonida began her studies of the Czerny method at the age of fifteen, and later took lessons from Leschetizky at his home in Vienna.

Leschetizky died in 1915.
